Yakima Fairing
WE RE ALL FOR WHISTLING. IT MAKES YOU HAPPIER. IT CALMS YOU DOWN. AND IT REDUCES YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE. UNLESS IT S YOUR RACK THAT S DOING THE WHISTLING. THEN IT S A MAJOR FREAKING ANNOYANCE THAT NEEDS TO BE ERADICATED IMMEDIATELY WITH A FAIRING.- Moves wind up and over rack, reducing noise - Available in a variety of widths (32", 38", 44", 50" ) The right one for you depends on your vehicle width and how many bugs you want it to squish on each trip - Fits windshield angles and curvatures - Compatible with every Yakima tower - Safe positioning anywhere along the vehicle's roof - Lockable with SKS lock housing and cores - sold separately - Quick installation on round bars - Also a great place to show off your sticker collection - This is patented stuff here - Product # 07046 - 32", #07047 - 38", #07048 - 44" #07049 - 50" Q: Do I need any tools to install it? A: Nope.Q: What size is right for my vehicle? A: Check the Fit List first. The size has to do with looks more than function, as any size will effectively reduce wind noise. When in doubt, measure the top of your windshield and make your best judgment. Guidelines for choosing a fairing are: 1. The feet must touch the roof, 2. The brackets must attach to crossbars with no interference, and 3. There should not be contact with siderails or vehicle roof. Using a different size will not affect the warranty, as long as these guidelines are followed.Q: How much will it reduce wind noise? A: The fairings can reduce wind noise and vibration UP TO 85%. Actual reductions will vary from vehicle to vehicle.Q: What maintenance should be performed on the fairing? A: We recommend periodic tightening of the hex keys to make sure they are tight. It is also a good idea to clean the bottom side of the pads that touch your roof to make sure there is no dirt, etc that can scratch the paint.Q: How can I mount this with other accessories without interference? A: There are many ways to mount a Fairing to achieve the best fit and avoid interference. The Fairing should be mounted just below the level of the top of the crossbars so that long loads and accessories can pass over the top. You may also need to install some accessories reversed to allow them to fit with a fairing. Download the product instructions for more information.Q: Why did you switch to the new type of fairing? A: The new design can be mounted farther back on the roof over painted surfaces, where the previous style would cause damage. As more cars are designed with a jelly-bean shape and with the increase in factory installed rack on vehicles, it was a necessary transition.Q: Can I move my front crossbar to help the Fairing fit better? A: If you are using Q Towers, or any other system where the bar placement is already specified, do not move the front crossbar, as doing so can make the rack unsafe.Q: Wow, those fairings are expensive, got anything cheaper? A: We do have the WindJammer, which is less expensive but will not reduce noise as much.

Yakima Boa Bike Carrier
THIS RACK IS NOT NAMED AFTER THE FEATHERY FASHION ACCESSORY. BECAUSE THAT WOULD MAKE IT A SISSY MOUNT. IT S ACTUALLY NAMED AFTER THE BOA CONSTRICTOR. SO YOU SHOULD FEEL EXTREMELY MANLY FOR OWNING ONE. UNLESS YOU RE A WOMAN, IN WHICH CASE YOU SHOULD JUST FEEL SMART.- Pivoting wheeltray enables it to fit any crossbar spread between 32 and 50 - Aerodynamic fork block fits round and square crossbars - Forks attach quick and easy to lockable skewer Q: Why pick the Boa over the other bike mounts? A: The Boa is the most economical bike mount that we produce. If you have the correct distance between the crossbars then it is a very good choice.Q: I already have a Boa, but how can I make it work on my new smaller car? (crossbars less than 32 apart) A: The Boa can be converted in a Copperhead simply by adding a longer wheeltray and a new Rattle wheel strap. Then the bike mount will work on crossbar spreads as little as 16 . Check out the page for the Copperhead for more information about the wheeltray replacement part. You will also need a new Rattler strap.Q: What maintenance do I need to do? A: Maintenance is important to keep it working properly and to help it last longer. Apply grease to nuts, screws, and bolts. Lubricate locks with graphite. Remove the rack when not in use. Clean the rack periodically, especially in marine environments and where road salt is used.Q: I need to carry several bikes. Can I place bikes on the car backwards to get more space? A: Yes, just remember to turn the bike around before riding it.Q: Does it carry all bikes? A: The Boa carries just about any bike with a quick release wheel skewer. However, there are a few exceptions where one of our other mounts should be used instead. These exceptions include, but are not limited to, bikes with triple clamp forks or forks with dropout spacing (the distance between the forks at the tips) other than 100mmQ: How much space does it need? A: In general, you will need about 12 inches of crossbar per bike when mounting them alternately front and rear facing. Barring any other restriction the practical limit is usually 4 bikes.Q: How many can I carry? A: That depends on the bikes and vehicle. First check the Fit List to see if there are any specific limitations for your vehicle (using the online Fit List bike mounts may not be offered or a load limit will be stated in the notes at the end of the process).Q: Can I us this bike mount with a factory rack? A: Fork style mounts will not mount directly to factory crossbars. The bike mount gets its side to side stability from the crossbar. Fork mounts stress crossbars more than upright styles because of their narrowness. Through testing we have that factory rack crossbars are not strong enough to handle the stress generated by fork mounts.Q: What crossbar spread do I need for the Boa to work? A: The Boa s unique wheel tray pivots around the bar to allow its use on crossbar spreads from 32-50 .Q: Can I use the Boa on a loadwarrior or megawarrior? A: Yes, you will need to use the tube sleeve included with the product see instructions.

A: You will need two pairs of Landing Pads and one pair of crossbars. Check the fit list to see which Landing Pads and crossbar length is correct for your vehicle.Q: Is there a way I can make it taller? A: There is no way to make the towers taller.Q: How much can I carry? A:This varies by vehicle, load type and crossbar length. Check the fit list to find out what load types (bikes, skis, boats, etc.) and weight capacity applies to your car. The fit list will also tell you the best crossbar length (48 , 58 , 66 , or 78 ) to use. You can go up one size if necessary, but duck your head.Q: What sort of maintenance should I perform? A: Performing maintenance is always a good idea to protect your car and make your rack system last longer. Lubricate nuts, screws, or bolts with grease. Lubricate locks with graphite. Remove the rack when not in use, or at least periodically to clean the pads and the vehicles roof. Clean the rack periodically, especially in marine environments and where road salt is used.Q: Will the rack make a lot of noise? A: Maybe. Wind noise is hard to predict, but it is more often an issue when the rack has little or no load. Yakima makes two products, the Fairing and Windjammer, to help control this situation. Large loads tend to dampen noise also. If you have a sunroof the fairing is a good way to help control air flow.Q: How do I know if the towers are installed correctly? A: Check the safety steps in the Control Tower instructions. These guidelines will show you if the fit is correct.Q: Will it damage my car? A: Yakima takes fitting cars very seriously, and do everything they can to minimize any effect our rack may have on your cars. However, anything coming into contact with a car s finish, our racks included, will have some effect over time, and some cars are more prone to these issues than others. So where the possibility of such issues is predictable, Yakima makes note of that in the Fit List. When the rack will not be in use for an extended period, it is a good idea to take the rack off of the car. You can also do a lot for yourself by: (1) Making sure the car is clean and well waxed prior to installing the rack, (2) Following all instructions for installation and usage, and (3) avoiding situations, like car washes, where the rack may be impacted.

Yakima Viper Bike Carrier
THIS HIGH-END RACK IS EXTREMELY POWERFUL AND HAS QUITE A SET OF FANGS. THAT S WHY IT S CALLED VIPER INSTEAD OF GARTER SNAKE. - 9mm stainless steel, lockable, long-throw skewer keeps your bike secure like a baby in a blankey - Compatible with most disc brakes - Fits a wide range of wheels and tires - Quick no-tool installation to avoid are my tools really adequate panic attacks - Ergonomic lever for single-side adjustment Q: What Maintenance do I need to do? A: Maintenance is important to keep it working properly and to help it last longer. Apply grease to nuts, screws, bolts, and especially the adjusting nut and lever of the locking skewer. Lubricate locks with graphite. Remove the rack when not in use. Clean the rack periodically, especially in marine environments and where road salt is used.Q: What is the minimum maximum distance I can have between my cross bars? A: The viper will safely fit bar spread from 16 to 42 , however spreads of 16 to 18 are limited to two bikes.Q: How long is the tray? A: 39.5 inchesQ: Does it carry all bikes? A: The viper carries just about any bike with a quick release wheel skewer. However, there are a few exceptions where one of our other mounts should be used instead. These exceptions include, but are not limited to, bikes with triple clamp forks and forks with dropout spacing (the distance between the forks at the tips) other than 100mm.Q: How many can I carry? A: That depends on the bikes and vehicle. First check the Fit List to see if there are any specific limitations for your vehicle (using the online Fit List bike mounts may not be offered or a load limit will be states in the notes at the end of the process). In general, you will need about 12 inches of crossbar per bike when mounting them alternately front and rear facing. Barring any other restriction the practical limit is usually 4 bikes.Q: Can I use this bike mount with a factory rack? A: Fork style mounts will not mount directly to factory crossbars. The bike mount gets its side to side stability from the crossbar. Fork mounts stress crossbars more than upright styles because of their narrowness. Through testing we have found that factory rack crossbars are not strong enough to handle the stress generated by fork mounts.Q: Can I get the viper with a short wheeltray? A: No. The long wheel tray is a feature that makes the viper adaptable to vehicles with short rooflines. The long tray is also an integrated part of the design ( it wouldn t work without it). If your vehicle has enough crossbar spread, the Boa is a less expensive, short tray alternative.Q: Why would I go with a fork mount over a upright style mount, or vise versa? A: Some like the aerodynamic look and manageability of a fork mount. Some don t want to hassle with removing the bike s front wheel and prefer an upright rack. A bike may have unique features (lefty or triple clamp forks, etc.) that limit bike mount choices, but one or more of our mounts will do the trick to keep your bike secure. Look up the specific bike mount for more details.Q: I need to carry several bikes. Can I place bikes on the car backwards to get more space? A: Yes, just remember to turn the bike around before riding it.
